Waihoihoi Lodge sits on five acres with an expansive view north over Bream Bay and Te Whara (Whangarei Heads). Massey Rd is a quiet no exit road, behind us is the Brynderwyn Forest - which provides a great playground - with tracks, walks and bike rides. We are 10 minutes drive from Waipu, 15 minutes from several safe sandy beaches, in the heart of a wonderful playground of beach, mountain and river.

Buses pass through Waipu regularly and we can easily pick you up on your arrival. More on arriving by bus.

    Buses to Waipuu

Waipu is 2 hours north of Auckland, on one of the main routes to the Bay of Islands and Kaitaia. The buses stop at Waipu, but you need to book a seat to ensure they stop. Let us know when you arrive and we will arrange to meet you in Waipu. If the timing of your flight does not allow either of the above options, you might need to stay in Auckland the night and catch either bus the next day. There are some great places on womentravel to stay in Auckland

    From Auckland Airport
Option 1 is to catch the Airbus into the city, get dropped at Sky City and catch an Intercity bus to Waipu. The latter are not frequent, so you need to check your timing. Details about Intercity and the airbus are below.

Option 2 Mainline Coach - servicing Whangarei, Aucland, Hamilton, Dargaville. This is usually a smaller shuttle and depending on timing, they will drop off or pick up at Auckland airport.

Taxis and shuttle buses licensed to operate from the Airport are available for all flights. The Airport to City taxi fare is approximately NZ$40. Shuttles are a bit cheaper because you combine with other people, taxis are a bit quicker because they are going direct to your destination. These services can take between 30 minutes and one hour depending on traffic conditions and which service you choose.

Airbus is Auckland's cheapest airport transfer service and calls in at most major hotels and backpackers in Auckland City every 20 minutes, and every 30 minutes after 6pm.  City to airport and airport to city transfers take approximately 60 minutes. They stop off at Sky City Hotel and Intercity Bus Terminal.

InterCity this is the national network with lots of ticket options. Auckland stop is at Sky City Coach Terminal, 102 Hobson Street (same as the Airbus above) They have a good online booking system, but you need to book at least a day ahead.  The route you need on this is Auckland to Waipu - you will find Waipu alphabetically under other locations.
