Ceridwyn and Danielle, have a women's retreat on the Thames Coast Watershed Cottage. Waihoihoi is now glad to be able to offer Watershed time at Waihoihoi, by arrangement
A watershed is a turning point, a time of gathering energy before the next stage. Geographically speaking, a watershed where the water gathers, before continuing on its path. The Waitakere ranges in Auckland are a physical watershed area, where the bush covered hills and great dams collect water for the benefit of the whole of Auckland.
At Waihoihoi Lodge we can provide Watershed Time, where you can stop and gather energy, just sit in the sun, or curled up by the fire. You may want to reflect on your life journey, on your God relationship, or on a decision to be made, in this beautiful and peaceful place. You can be as alone or as sociable as you need.
Good conversation happens around the dining table, and if you want to have an intentional conversation, both Danielle and Ceridwyn are available for mentoring and spiritual direction. Our spirituality is based in the Christian tradition and we have explored widely in other traditions, and are particularly open to those who are questioning their own experiences of church and spirituality in the contemporary world.
- we will develop these in the next few months, if you are interested, then join our mailing list by clicking the button at the bottom of the page.

We have been together since the beginning of this century, and a bit more! We came together over our shared passion for Hildegard of Bingen. This blossomed into us presenting over 60 dramatic performances of her life and music, in New Zealand and in England. We had so much fun and met so many people as we explored her work.
Together, we have lived in One Tree Hill and Ponsonby in Auckland, as well as in Thames on the Coromandel. There we operate Watershed Cottage , a charming 30’s bungalow, as a retreat place for women. We are also based on and off at Waihoihoi Lodge.
This idea developed during our year of adventures, when we took off overseas with minimal luggage, more minimal money and high hopes. We worked as volunteers and wwoofers in England and France, and lived at Iona in Scotland, Othona in Dorset, and Le Ble en Herbe in central France.
We can feel the wanderlust growing in us again, and are letting it develop by joining up with Rosemary at Waihoihoi Lodge. All three of us recently tackled the Central Otago Rail Trail on bicycles, and won, in spite of snow and hail and impossible winds.
spent 43 years as a Dominican sister, teaching in schools, leading retreats and providing Christian education in Otago and Southland. She was on the team at Teschemakers, the lovely old house near Oamaru, which is now developing a new identity as a centre for organic garden education. ….. For several years she was the Director of Sister Eveleen House, the Anglican retreat House in Sumner, Christchurch, which looks over the Pacific Ocean and all of Christchurch city. She loves the work of Thomas Merton and Meister Eckhart, and is particularly interested in quantum theology these days. Less elevated interests are murder mysteries set in Venice where she hopes to return soon, , and persuading her hens to lay lots of eggs. Contact Danielle
loves photography and music, especially early music on the recorder. She is part of a long line of teachers – her grandparents, father and daughter are all teachers too. She has run Kip McGrath Centres,in Christchurch, and on the Coromandel, as well as teaching in primary and secondary schools, and even dabbling in distance education for the Anglican Church, for a time. She has discovered the joys of sledgehammers and electric drills late in life, and took great pleasure making steps up gullies and hillsides at Watershed Cottage, with a little help from friends.
